Call for Participants: Youth Exchange „Let’s talk about food“ in Slovenia
Let’s talk about food – Exploring the basics of balanced nutrition in interactive workshops and hands-on cooking sessions
Come and join us!
From the 29th of June until the 5th of July 2026
Being young these days can be challenging enough. How do we even keep our body well nurtured and build a positive relationship towards food, facing today’s obstacles?
The organisation No Excuse Slovenia tackles exactly that issue by hosting this year’s five-day youth exchange from the 29th of June (arrival day) until the 5th of July 2026 (departure day) in the region of Gorenjska. Adolescents aged between 18 and 25 from Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal and Germany are invited to join the programme. It is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and aims at building food-related confidence, knowledge, and practical skills, such as meal planning, food storage and gardening concepts.

No matter if you already have some cooking knowledge or not, Let’s talk about food will teach you the basics of balanced nutrition, how food supports your body and health and how you can prepare simple but tasty meals. A particular focus is going to be on vegan and vegetarian dietary options, of course. In order to share an output as well, you’ll be working together in international teams to create short videos about what you’ve learned.
So, what are you still waiting for? This programme is the perfect opportunity for you to connect internationally, learn some everyday life skills and make new friends!
Who can apply?
If you are between the age of 18 and 25 years, living in Germany and are an open-minded person, eager to create a project together with other adolescents from different European countries, you’re the one we’re looking for. You should have a basic understanding of English, since it’ll be the working language during the programme. It is mandatory that you can participate in the whole programme from June 29th until July 5th.
We explicitly encourage young applicants with disabilities or those facing barriers to participate. Your experiences and perspectives are valuable, and we’ll do our best to create an inclusive space that meets your needs.
Accommodation and Meals
All participants will be staying at a hostel in rooms of three or more. The exact location is going to be announced later. Over the course of five days, there’ll be cooking teams that exchange duties throughout the week. Anyone not cooking will have a workshop or another assignment instead. If you have any dietary needs or concerns around accessibility, let us know in the application form.

Costs and Travel
Accommodation, meals and all programme activities are covered by the Erasmus+ programme. Your travel costs will be reimbursed after the exchange, based on EU distance guidelines. If you can’t forward the travel costs, let us know and we’ll help you to book your tickets.
Refundable travel costs
| Travel with plane & car | 309€ |
| Green travel with train & bus | 417€ |
Since the environment is important to us, we would like to encourage you to use green travel options, like bus or train. In this case you’ll get a maximum refund of 417€ and two extra travelling days. If you take a plane or car to Slovenia, the refundable amount is 309€ for your travel costs.
Don’t worry if you’re overwhelmed with planning your trip! We’re more than happy to support you with whatever organisational help you might need. 🙂
Insurance
Having a European Insurance Card (EHIC) or any other valid travel health insurance is necessary to join the programme. It ensures that you can access healthcare services if needed and helps to create a safe environment for all participants.
First prep-meeting
We’re going to have a preparational meeting for all participants on the 21th of May 2026 at 5:30pm so you can meet your group members and your team leader. Please bring all your questions about your travel and the programme. We will try to answer everything to our best abilities!
Please note: It is mandatory for all participants of the German group to attend this meeting so we are able to prepare everyone as good as possible.
